A Game-Changer for Bedside Stroke Imaging and Faster Diagnoses

Portable low-field (LF) MRI is reshaping stroke care by enabling bedside neuroimaging for patients with suspected acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Presented at RSNA 2024, the ACTION PMR study highlighted how the Hyperfine Swoop® portable MRI system delivers rapid, accurate diagnostics, bypassing the long wait times and logistical challenges associated with traditional MRI.

Conducted across three U.S. stroke centers, the study revealed strong agreement in stroke lesion detection among experienced assessors, emphasizing LF MRI’s reliability. In addition to significantly reducing time-to-scan, this technology offers new opportunities for triaging strokes, distinguishing stroke mimics, and guiding time-sensitive treatments like thrombolysis.

Portable LF MRI’s mobility, affordability, and ability to bring imaging directly to patients make it a groundbreaking advancement in stroke care, with the potential to improve outcomes for patients globally.
